Sanders Smith has bad eyes. The blurry, soft way he sees the world is channeled in his digital paintings. Slightly wonky distortions of perspective and divisionist-inspired interaction of color abound in his investigations into the funny, fraught nature of ersatz oil paintings. Highly saturated colors and pixelated brushstrokes give a certain silicone texture to his still life scenes of the everyday yet their playful rendering feels unmistakably human.
